About the event

The ClimateWorks Foundation’s Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Program team invites you to join our 2021 CDR Deep Dive. The virtual three-part series will take place on February 16-18, 2021, and will bring together funders, grantees, and experts to promote learning about this emerging field. Registration is now open

Day one of the deep dive will provide a post-mortem on the United States presidential election and present upcoming scenarios for natural carbon capture and land-sparing technologies. Given the growing importance of incorporating diverse voices into CDR program grantmaking, grantee panelists will also reflect on key lessons learned in outreach to justice, Indigenous, and labor communities to better inform grantmaking and strategy going forward.

Day two will focus on electrofuels created from direct air capture of CO and clean hydrogen for aviation as a decarbonization solution for long-haul flights. We will explore insights on current activities and opportunities for collaboration with a focus on the significant land-sparing potential of this drop-in fuel for aircraft.

Day three will focus on natural CDR, with case studies in countries where significant scale potential exists for natural carbon capture in farms and forests.  Discussion topics will include silvopastoral systems in Mexico and natural farming practices in India, as well as an effort to monitor forest and land restoration at the global level.

For more information on each session, please see the agenda. We hope you can join us in February!  If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Westbrook.
