About the workshop
The 2050 Today virtual workshop "Brain hacking for the climate: Using behavioral insights to make our strategies more effective" is an invitation-only, 2-hour, reconfigured session of the recently postponed "2050 Today" event that was set to take place end of April.
As we enter the “decisive decade” for climate mitigation and the climate community increasingly looks to a broader range of strategies that are people-centered, the topic of our workshop is particularly timely. This workshop will explore ways in which philanthropy can leverage behavior, echoing many points raised in our blog on how behavioral insights can make our climate strategies more effective, and much more.
Please register for the workshop before Monday, April 20 to receive prep materials and a Zoom link for the video conference.
DESCRIPTION
There is an untapped wealth of knowledge in the fields of behavioral economics and psychology that we could - and should - be using to strengthen our climate strategies. This knowledge sheds new light on how deep, systemic change really happens, and how to address complex questions, such as how to ensure low-carbon consumption changes are positive rather than punitive, and how to scale from individual low-emissions choices to broader societal behavioral changes. We will take the discussion beyond personal decision-making to how to apply behavioral insights to policy-focused mitigation sectors and society-wide change.
Additional virtual workshops as a result of postponement of 2050 Today event:
- "Navigating the social and economic transition: From mobilization to durable policy action" will be held on Tuesday, April 28 - 8:00-9:45 am PDT.
- “China and the Global Food System” will be held on Wednesday, April 29 - 6:00 - 7:30 am PDT.
