About the workshop

The 2050 Today virtual workshop "Navigating the social and economic transition: From mobilization to durable policy action" is an invitation-only, reconfigured session of the recently postponed "2050 Today" event that was set to take place end of April.

“People-centered strategies” was one of key emerging 2050 themes identified in our 2018 event and we planned to move it forward this year, focusing on issues around mobilization. The energy of the youth in the streets was the big topic of conversation in the past year and has taken on new shape since – at the same time as our understanding of the challenge of reaching our climate protection goals is broadening from one that is primarily technical and economic, to one that has far-reaching social implications. This workshop is thus particularly timely, and will inform the developing work of ClimateWorks and our partners in this area.

Please register for the workshop before Monday, April 20 to receive prep materials and a Zoom link for the video conference.

DESCRIPTION:

We all love Greta and the energy of the youth but what converts that into policy action - things like the green new deal? How broad does our focus need to be: narrowly on climate or a comprehensive justice and equity agenda? This session aims to shed light on what it means to support next steps in mobilization, define terms around transitions, equity and justice, start to get alignment among partners for next steps.
