POSTPONED

After a discussion among the ClimateWorks leadership, we have come to the difficult decision to postpone “2050 Today: Accelerating Emerging Strategies” planned for April 27-28, 2020 until the first half of 2021. The continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and uncertainty around the ways in which the situation may worsen, possibly prompting further travel restrictions, are compromising our ability to host the meeting as planned. In light of this, we are proactively switching gears and looking at other ways to keep the 2050 momentum throughout the year. (ClimateWorks leadership has not made decisions to change any convenings taking place in May and beyond).

Given the importance of continuing to develop and take action on emerging strategies for mid-century decarbonization, we plan the following:

1.  “2050 Today: Accelerating Emerging Strategies” event will be rescheduled for the first half of 2021 - stay tuned for a new “save the date” in the coming months.

2.  Several of our 2050 sessions, where conversations are time-sensitive and which are amenable to a virtual discussion, will be reconfigured into virtual workshops, and others likely later on. We encourage you to join these workshops and contribute to their strategic direction:

1.  "Navigating the social and economic transition: From mobilization to durable policy action" - Tuesday, April 28 - 8:00-9:45 am PDT.

2.  “Brain hacking for the climate: Using behavioral insights to make our strategies more effective” - Tuesday, April 28 - 10:00-12:00 pm PDT.

3.  “China and the Global Food System” - Wednesday, April 29 - 6:00 - 7:30 am PDT.

4. "Can speculative fiction help us prepare for the future?" - Tuesday, June 9 - 9:00 - 10:00 am PDT.

5. "The pathway matters: eliminating super pollutants by 2050 for a cooler, healthier planet" - Thursday, June 11 - 8:00 - 9:30 am PDT.

3.  The “Voices of 2050 Today” blog series will continue as planned to highlight emerging themes and carry the momentum through to 2021.
